Scholastic Chess Grand Prix
NOTE: Open to ALL Scholastic Players, not just Columbia Residents
LOCATION: Ben Lippen School 7401 Monticello Rd Columbia, SC 29203
DATES: October 10, November 14 and December 12, 2009. January 23,
February 20, March 20 and April 24, 2010
FORMAT: Four US Chess rated sections: K-3, K-5, K-8 & K-12. 4 Rounds
G/30 (30 minutes per player per game) each tournament. (Sections may be
combined for pairing purposes, if necessary.) US Chess membership
required for these sections. (Available on site.)
SPECIAL NON-RATED BEGINNERS SECTION: 4 Rounds G/30 (30 minutes per
player per game) Open to beginning players. No US Chess membership
necessary.***Any player new to USCF tournament play is eligible for this
section.***Does not count toward Grand Prix. SPECIAL ENTRY FEE for this
section $10 (if registered online the Thursday before the tourney) $15
on site.
REGISTRATION:
Available on site from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on the day of the event.
Pre-registration at www.chessadventures.com is much preferred.
ROUNDS: 10AM 11:30AM 1PM and 2:30PM

COLUMBIA SCHOLASTIC CHESS GRAND PRIX! Individuals and schools compete
for great trophies in each of the four sections. Individuals count their
five best tournaments, so if you miss a couple, you’re still in the

FINAL TROPHY CEREMONY IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE APRIL 24 EVENT.

PLEASE BRING A CHESS SET AND A CHESS CLOCK AS THESE WILL NOT BE
PROVIDED. (THESE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON-SITE). FOOD AND DRINK
WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE ON-SITE.
USCF MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. (except in non rated beginners section)
